Most of IT staff already has problems with the PCs and after some research had to format and reinstall the PC. I recently had the same situation with my daughter PC. After almost 1 week trying to fix the problem (blue screen during Windows XP boot), I was getting motivated to resintall the PC. For my luck, I commented with one of my colleagues at work about the problem. He suggested to boot the PC using BartPE or something similar and run the CHKDSK command. I download the UBCD4Win, prepared the ISO and burned the ISO to on CD-ROM. After this I booted the PC using the UBCD4Win CD.When I finally got the Windows XP running (Live CD) I was not able to find the partitions of the PC. Then I realized that maybe the hard disk could be something bad. But, since I already booted with the pre-environment system (UBCD4Win), why not give a shoot in the CHKDSK. I opened the MS-DOS prompt and run the CHKDSK /F. After a while, I gotta the problems fixed and for my lucky, the PC booted again. This are some tricks that could help everybody with similar issues, at home or at work. Before formatting the PC to fix some unsolvable issue, give a try on UBCD4Win. |
